When I was twelve, a doctor told my parents that by thirty I would spend the rest of my life in a wheelchair. My family never accepted that answer.

 

It took doctor after doctor and misdiagnosis after misdiagnosis to name what was wrong: a rare congenital disease. What followed was several operations, three months in a wheelchair, and a year and a half of learning to walk again.

That search taught me never to accept no for an answer, and never to take the first one as final. I have invested that way ever since. 

 

I walk today because technology advanced faster than my prognosis. To me, technology has never been an investment category. It is the difference between a life with limits and one without.
